I think she is dead. How else would you explain her visiting Aaron at Kate's place and telling her not to bring him back to the Island?

If she is dead what do you think killed her? The smokie perhaps? Personally I don't think she is dead. Walt is still alive but appears in hallucinations and in season 2 Hurley sees Jin when he is not there. I'm sure there are other instances of living survivors appearing in visions.

i think she just meant showing up in other peoples dreams and what not are traits of dead people or something.
