Did anyone notice how Desmond told Hurley when Hurley asked why he never turned the key before, Desmond replied"cause I didn't know what was gonna happen", almost as if he suspected Hurley knew something about him?  Then come to find out that all of a sudden, Desmond is having premonitions.

Well I didnt notice that, but I do remember the fact that in a Jack centric ep when they were jogging he told jack that he would heal Sarah like he knew that for a fact. I cant really say if  has always been that way or not. I would lean more twards it being a new thing though, look at the weird things that the island does to or for other people.

I don't think Desmond was already psychic because he was surprised when he said that Locke's speech about finding Kate and Co. And then he was right, that didn't happen yet. I think he may have had strong gut feelings, but was never psychic until the implosion.

I think that the island has done something to Desmond! I mean after he escaped from the hatch and left Jack etc. in charge he escaped on a boat! Eventually when he returns during the funerul of LIbby adn Ana he seams to have changed and he seams to be predicting things eversince. Remember in the 1st half of episode 3, Desmond said to Hurley (i think) that Loc was going to make a speech saying that he is going to find Jack, Sawyer and Kate, BUT Loc hadn't made a speech and when he does he says to the crowd of survivors that he is taking some people to go and look for there missing friends!  Shocked Huh

That happened after the implosion though. I don't think he had any "abilities" until after the implosion. The only thing I noticed when he came back on the boat was that he was drunk, but I didn't notice any psychic network at that point.

So by the looks of it, Desmond can control the fate of Charlie and after last nites episode I cant w8 for the nxt. Desmond is fastly becoming my new favourite character after last nites display.

Yeah, things sure look different now that we've seen that episode.  I hope the go further into this story line within the next couple of episodes, I'm looking forward to learning more about what's going on.  They have been giving us some major clues as to whats going on.

Speaking of which, what if the others have the same ability that Desmond has, and that the "Official" looking fellow had that recruited Juliet?  What if Ethan knew that Charlie would shoot him in the chest 6 times and took precautions to prevent his own death?  Sorry, it's off topic of this thread, but the thought just entered my head.

Well, it makes sense to me. If it happened to Desmond, why couldn't it have happened to someone else? We don't know anything about what happened on the island before Desmond got there.. They're all on the same island (or island group whatever..), and Desmond got the ability just by turning a key? I think there must be other ways to get it, or maybe other abilities...
Haven't really thought it through, it hasn't crossed my mind yet, so thank you for telling this hehe...

Not to mention that the "Others" seem to know things that they shouldn't know.....

What's really strange is the thought that they can control what happens......Juliet said the only way she could join them is if her husband were hit by a bus, and he was....Did the "Others" Boss make that happen?

I don't know, I got the feeling that in the end of Lost, we'll be left behind with a bit of ignorance.. That not all mysteries are going to be solved..
I hope not though, cause it would kill me.. lol

I've been thinking about that possibility that there is a higher power in lost, and that the others don't control everything... It would explain alot of things, like Juliet's ex being hit by a bus, but also Rose and John who are cured on the Island, Desmond who can time travel... A lot of unusual things going on there, who maybe aren't in the hand of others, or others human beings...
I really hope we'll ever find out:-).

Not to mention that Ben only found out 2 days before the plane crashed that he had a tumor on his spine and not even he knew that Jack, a spine surgeon, would be on that plane.
