yeah speaking of which...
did you know that the first day of shooting was Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) on the plane being chased by the flight attendant. They were scheduled to shoot Evangeline Lilly (Kate), but her work papers hadn't come through yet and Dominic's had, so they began with his scenes.

they said that it could be widmore, or ben, or a 3rd party. I'm guessing that he might be working for jacob / the island. But they did leave the window open for him to be Jacob because maybe jacob works for the island

well they were wrong
Henry Ian Cusick was in London at the time Lost was auditioning, so he put a recording of himself on a DVD and sent it to L.A. as his audition. Obviously it worked and he got the part of Desmond David Hume.
