Does anyone know why they call him Hurley? His name is Hugo.

OMG!!

He actually speaks Spanish!! Hahahahah I would have never imagined.... he has this really strong South-American accent though, nowehere near what mine sounds like. And he says "you know" way too much ~_~

If you want to, I could translate the whole video for you guys who are stuck with English only xD

Interviewer: We are with Jorge García, who’s been so kind to grant us an interview. Jorge, first of all I...

Jorge: Hello!

[laughter]

Interviewer: Yeah, hello's first

[more laughter]

Interviewer: Let’s see. The scriptwriters of Lost, do they know where the story’s headed or do they make things up as they go along?

Jorge: They know. They have planned out 6 seasons of the show. They know what the story is going to be but they don’t know how much time they have to show it because that depends on the audience. We don’t wanna make the series too long but yeah they know where they’re getting to.

Interviewer: When are you going back to Hawaii for the filming...? Cause it’s in Hawaii right?

Jorge: Yeah, well, Hawaii is now home. That’s where I live now. I love life in Hawaii. I’m considering staying in Hawaii even after Lost’s over.

Interviewer: Hugo, he’s somewhat of a special person who becomes a millionaire over night and has had mental issues and nevertheless he seems like a very ordinary guy. How do you approach the character?

Jorge: They especially made the character for me and he's pretty much based on me so... I like the crezyness in Hugo cause that’s really appealing to the audience; he’s not the hero nor the bad guy, just someone who believes that everyone is capable of making it through the day and survive. His priorities are very simple.

Interviewer: How does Hugo feel now that... spoiler! Err how does Hugo feel now that he’s had his girfriend taken away? [<< meaning Libby, and by 'taken away' he means her character got killed xD]

Jorge: Yeah, that was... (can’t make out what he says here). The romantic scenes were kinda hard for me, cause it’s like it’s not really something you’d imagine Hurley doing, that’s more for people like Sawyer.

Interviewer: How did you get along with the rest of the cast, with well-known actors such as Dominic Monaghan, Evangeline, etc. Who did you hit it off the best with?

Jorge: Dom because Dominic lives in Hawaii too and so sometimes on my way to the beach I stop by his place to see what he’s up to.

Interviewer: Does he live with Evangeline...?

Jorge: Can’t say anything...

[laughter]

Interviewer: Have you ever been to Spain?
 
Jorge: Yeah I lived in Spain when I was in high school. I strated in Madrid, and then we went to Alicante, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Segóvia...

Interviewer: All throughout Spain!

Jorge: Yeah, so many places.

Interviewer: Have you heard what you sound like Spanish-dubbed?

Jorge: Nope. Not yet. I’ve heard the French and the German voices of Hugo but I still have to see about the Italian and the Spanish ones. I wanna buy the DVDs on the Internet and have them sent over so that I can watch it (here he says something about his Cuban grandparents but he doesn’t finish the sentence cause that shot has been cut out).

Interviewer: How does a Hispanic actor make it to Hollywood which must be very complicated...? well, you have no problem language-wise but you’re not Anglo-Saxon...?

Jorge: Yeah, getting into the American industry was kinda difficult because the Hispanic and Latin actors don’t usually do main roles and they’re not like Spanish and native Europeans, they’re darker-skinned and features like that.

In Lost they chose the actors they wanted to work with and they created each character from the crew they had selected. Hurley, y’know, at first he wasn’t a Hispanic-American but later on they came up with the name Hugo Reyes and...

Interviewer: I read something funny saying that you had auditioned for the part of Sawyer...

Jorge: Nah I wasn’t going for the role of Sawyer, I just read Sawyer’s part because they hadn’t written much yet and that’s what I was given.

Interviewer: Do you have plans for when you’re done with Lost or other stuff you do in between each season?

Jorge: I just took part in a project in Canada, with Danny DeVito and (didn’t catch the other name), it’s a Christmas movie...
