I went to reply to a topic and the computer suggested I start a new one since the topic was over 20 days old. That ring around the cabin when Lock went to see Jacob, what was it? Did Jacob and Ben have a falling out and Ben trapped him? was Ben protecting him from something? but I think that is why Ben had to send out Ethan and Goodwyn to investigate the others. Jacob was stuck in that cabin. He said "help me" to Lock, and Ben seemed a little disturbed when he found out Lock heard Jacob.

dont worry about that.  thats just to let you know that its not currently going on.  we bring topics "back to life" all the time though.  so dont pay attention to that.

yeah i think ben and jacob had some sort of "fight".  im not sure about the soot stuff keeping jacob prisoner but i do think it was there for a reason

i would merge the two but i cant find the other topic you were going to post in =|  LOL

i remember that topic but not sure where it is anymore...anyway, i have always been under the assumption that the black soot was to keep jacob in the cabin or quite possibly keep smokey away from the cabin....

In the episode that Ben called/summoned Smokey, wasnt there the same black soot around our Losties?  Like its protection?
