I think that jack wants to get back soo bad because the island is where he is respected and doesnt have to worry about fixing anything! The island was somewhere where he could escape from his inner feelings.  In the real world he has to use drugs to do that.  In my other post someone replied that the island has drug-like qualities.  Think about it. An interesting concept

Well since they know the show ends in two seasons I don't think lossing a few rating points is something they think about that much. Bu I agree I would be pretty pissed if they play with the space/time, alternate reality crap. I think Lost is a better show then that.

Well i'll have to disagree with you on that one. Jack has to worry about fixing everything he has to control and make sense of everything on the island. He says he does not want that role, but I beleive he relishes it. It is on the Island that he can be who he truly wants to be. In the outside world he lost control over every aspect of his life, because he is NOT the leader he was on the island.

Not to mention that Ben had a point when he asked Jack why he's in such a hurry to get off the Island...What is he running to?  On the Island, Jack was somebody, and I don't think that he necessarily relished in the idea of being a leader, but I think even without being the leader, he was somebody and his life had a meaning.....Away from the Island, it doesn't.

ok, here are some thoughts:

1.)  my best guess is that the funeral was michael's.  he had no one besides walt, and wasn't too popular on the island since he sold everyone down the river for freedom ... supposedly.  kate was on the dock when michael left

2.)  i have suspected for some time that jack's dad was never dead & may even be involed with the island in some way.  remember, jack found the coffin - empty - and thought he saw his dad on the island.  the fact that he was apparently alive in the future wasn't a huge stretch for me honestly.

3.)  i don't see locke ever leaving the island.  if it was going to be destroyed, i think he'd go down with it.  (therefore, i'm almost certain it wasn't his funeral

4.)  i believe we will see more of the flash forwards, and they may reflect whatever possible outcome results from "current" events on the island.

5.)  just a theory:  what if the island has 'eternal life' properties (see richard).  that would explain why jack the life-saving doctor is beating himself up over seeing each rescued lostie die.  it would also make ben's statement true (in a unique way) that calling for rescue will result in eveyone's death.

What do you make of Ben??  I know he won't die anytime soon..He's kind of a main character.  But, he is SOO minipulative that he can get whatever he wants. He was as bold as to waltz right up to everyone without a weapon and demand jack give him the phone.  Jack was smart enough not to.  But, i think whoever was on the phone is not good.  Maybe ben wasn't bluffing about the people on the boat and they are out to kill everyone.  But, obviously jack and kate dont get killed if that scene towards the end was in the future.  Maybe the people on the boat will act like another group of "hostiles".  Then, Jack and the losties would have to team up with the others to take out the new "hostiles" tell me what u think

I'm having problem with #5. Eternal life proprities.... Maybe eternal life, but that dosen't mean the foutain of youth. Richard hasen't aged at all, but Alex aged, ben aged, Rousseau aged Huh

I think its possible that Ben wasn't referring to the literal genocide of the Losties, but rather the slow, and over time death of each of them... Considering how Jack is in such a bad state and near the edge of suicide, it seems as though maybe he means that leaving the island will in turn kill them all because in some ways they cannot survive without it.

OK. bfish said that jack found the coffin empty?? i thought it was just closed. If i am sounding a little bit slow here please help me.  John also saw his dad on the island. John and jack both resented their fathers. There might be something going on with dads. And pregnant women. And mothers and daughters like the french lady and Alex.  Do you guys see a pattern too??

That's exactly my thought on it Ben.....I think that Ben was telling the truth when he said "You don't know who these people are, Jack".  The people on the ship are going to be far worse than the Others....Locke is going to take Ben's place, and Ben is going to be kept as a pet.....They are going to form an allegiance with each other, and have to fight the good fight against the new, even badder guys.

Locke_30, there are 3 more seasons planned, each one only having 16 episodes each, and running straight through from January until the end of May.  The Series Finale will be in May 2010.

I sure hope they dont show the future for the rest of the season and use the flashbacks for the island... I think that would ruin the show for me..
