Somebody talked about this in the Help Me!!! topic and I wanted to discuss it further.  What are some reasons why someone would have blood in their house.  The only thing I keep thinking is on Harry Potter where Voldemort needed to drink unicorn blood to stay alive.  Maybe Jacob needs to drink blood to continue to be whatever he is.

Do you mean the 4 jars that have approximately 23 ounces of dark colored liquid inside of them?  How do you know that they are blood?

Hes Dracula.

I think it is blood, because don't the others take blood samples? Maybe thats where they store them, or it's blackcurrant juice. Whatever it is, I doubt we'll find out.

Well the jars don't look like a solid.  And I am assuming it isn't Kool Aid. Maybe its ketchup or strawberry jelly so Jacob doesn't go hungry.  No I  just think it's blood because it makes the place look more scary.

It really could be anything.....Blood would turn almost black and become a coagulant, but it could also be oil, or syrup, or molasses.

Red blood cells, or corpuscles, encased in blood vessels, color the blood. Since there are about 35 trillion of these tiny, round, flat discs circulating in one's body at any one time, their sheer number necessarily lends their red color to the blood.

As the young red blood cell matures, and takes on an adult form in the marrow of the bone, it loses it's nucleus, and it increases its production of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the red pigment, or color of blood, and contains iron, combined with protein.

When blood passes through the lungs, oxygen piggybacks on the hemoglobin of the red cells. From there, the red cells carry the oxygen through the arteries and the capillaries to all other cells of the body. Carbon dioxide from the body cells returns to the lungs through the veins in the same manner, by attaching to the hemoglobin. coolquiz.com

Red blood cells are red only because they contain a protein chemical called hemoglobin which is bright red in color. Hemoglobin contains the element Iron, making it an excellent vehicle for transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide. As blood passes through the lungs, oxygen molecules attach to the hemoglobin. As the blood passes through the body's tissue, the hemoglobin releases the oxygen to the cells. The empty hemoglobin molecules then bond with the tissue's carbon dioxide or other waste gases, transporting it away. The Franklin Institute

I was always under the impression that blood was red because of the iron, and when the iron is exposed to oxidation(oxygen), it turns a bright red color.  So I thought the same thing too, and decided to look it up so that I don't say something wrong...

I have always thought it was blue, and after what u wrote i decided to look it up, and it is in fact red. Being blue is a massive misconception that a lot of people make. I am not too fussed wether i write something wrong, cos i'm not perfect, and there is always somebody out there who can correct mistakes so that they are not made again. Cheers JJ. Smiley

I didn't used to be worried about being right all the time, but here lately, I've been getting a lot of hassle about being wrong.....which by the way, I'm wrong most of the time....Smiley

Heck, even my students say it to me sometimes, and I say, "yeah, yeah, that's right -- it's blue"

Geex, don't I feel like a maroon -- passing misinformation to the next generation like some kind of insidious brain plague

Now you understand why I wear the bandages...
