so many different threads on who's in the coffin. i just grabbed one to post this on because i haven't heard it mentioned before as we debate who's in there.

On December 7, 2007, executive producer Carlton Cuse confirmed that the person in the coffin is a character that the audience has seen before.   (scifi.com)

Did anyone notice that the neighborhood the mystery funeral took place in was kind of slummy?
Could that help point us in the direction of who was in that coffin???  Just something else to ponder...

So now that we now Ben has many aliases (due to seeing passports w/ other names on them in his secret room last week) doesn't that open up the possibility that BEN was in the coffin? perhaps J... ...atham or whatever we saw from the clipping is one of his fake names he used to travel?
now, i now this  doesn't solve the teenage son issue- but if the producers say it is someone we know...and we now know that Ben is not always going by his real name when he's off the island...

Thats a good point Stacy. I am just at the point I am not guessing nothing. Lost is too crazy and smart for me to try and analyze.

Neither friend or family, I'm starting to think someone like Miles, Faraday or the pilot may be in the casket.

Ok in the future Ben is getting Sayid to assinate people. There is also a mystery man (the Economist) who employed _____ (can't remeber her name) who was romantically involved with Sayid and was meant to assasinate him.  So maybe either the Economist or Ben ordered the assasination of whoever is in that coffin.

Do you think this adds weight to or take away from the idea that Ben himself is in the coffin?

(PS I still think it isn't Ben in there)

It was said in a seperate interview that the obituary is a prop!
That kinda screws up some theorys, and a lot of discussion
