When this scene was going it it made me think of the scene in "Confirmed Dead" when we first saw Charlotte land on the island. She was in that water and was SO happy. I just assumed she was glad that she survived the parachute jump, but perhaps she was happy cos she'd finally got back to the island.

a few things: how did Miles know this? doesn't he hear things from the dead- if so, perhaps he got some message from Rousseau that Charlotte had been on the island before?
also, age and time seem to be different on the island than anywhere else. so we can't assume that Ben and Charlotte would have to appear the same age if she really is Annie.

maybe shes annies daughter? although that might make her too old. no, i guess not. that crossed my mind too but i think her being annies daughter makes more sence

hmmm...interesting idea, but Charlotte couldn't have been born on the island- right? perhaps conceived there, but then Ben made Annie leave before the dangerous point in her pregnancy. But, wouldn't Ben know that she was his daughter? he knows everything about everyone it seems

ben could have just told annie to adopt a fake name but he never finds out what it was, maybe ben went a bit psycho on annie so she ran away...i dunno lol its lost, anythings possible

not sure if this has already been covered,
so it seems charlotte has been to the island before according to miles!!!
"When Daniel returns to ferry a second group to the freighter, he tells Charlotte and Miles that they should be on the next one. Charlotte initially complied with this, until Miles asked her why she was willing to leave so soon, after trying hard to get back to the island again - implying that she has been to The Island before. Charlotte later tells Daniel that she's not going back to the freighter, because she is still "looking for where she was born." She kisses Daniel tenderly on the cheek before they part ways."
so now then who is she? and she is obviously going to play a bigger role in the up coming seasons

I didn't like her or trust her that much either until there was a hint of romance between her and daniel. Now I kinda want things to work out for them cos they make a nice couple
Its strange how my opinion of different characters in the show has changed over the seasons. The ones I couldn't stand I now like and the ones that were my favourites I'm kinda bored of! I guess its probably because their characters have evolved so much from who they were in the beginning.
I definitely think charlotte is related to Annie in some way. I heard on the commentary for her episode that she would be popping up again in quite an important way.

i think that she is a lot younger then ben. i didnt even think about that. but annie was red head and freckled. and i think that i do remember reading or hearing in a podcast that annie is not forgotten and would be brought back.

If she is Annie or her daughter Ben couldnt know this, because i do remember a time when Ben shot her and tried to kill her and i dont think he would try to kill his real biological daugher or his first love so....
