i think he left to let the others know they need to get back to the island, i dont think he committed suicide either. maybe when they take him back to the island he will still be alive. you know, cause of the time difference thing. or maybe he did kill himself because he couldnt get back to the island. i dont know though, why would the island let him die and then want him back there? why do they all have to go back>? does that include des too?

maybe the island "let him die" because he is being used as the tool to bring all the others together and convince them they must go back. and the island knows once he is back, he will be able to run around all animate and stuff cause dead doesn't actually MEAN dead there. or he is just appearing dead for the same reason, to bring them all back, but is in some sort of pseudo dead state. even if he looked awfully yellow and embalmed in that last shot.  ROTFL

i have been wondering that too, unless he returned to work for the island, the island would let him remain unparalized just like it can "not" let people die.

all of the talking of the island being this sentient thing..makes me wonder if in the end it will turn out to be this ginormous amorphous sentient alien life form or something.   and in the end it will make everyone bow down and do its bidding.  Praise
