Well first of all, I believe I read somewhere that the creators of the show have denied anything alien/extraterrestrial about the island.
My possible theory on Locke is that maybe he has become something like a part of the island, the way Christian did. He seemed to be one of, if not the only, one on the island that didn't have anyone to return to, and all of Ben's talk about him being chosen and whatnot...

I thought the newspaper said he "hanged himself"? Maybe something happened where John had to move the island, and that's why he isn't on the island. It doesn't make sense that if you move the island you can't come back. If that were the case, wouldn't you just have some else do it for you? It doesn't look that hard to do. Just turn the wheel.

Im going with that Locke had to move the island, like Ben had to. Ben told Jack bad things happened after they left...what the bad things are? We'll have to wait, depending on where/what time the island was moved to. But i think Locke had to move the island(himself this time) to protect it again.
But i dont think the bad things are too involved with Widmore, due to the fact in present time he is still looking for the island...possibly Dharma finds it way to the island again.

Actually I hope they dont go that route...I honestly think season 5 will be full fledge dealing with Dharma. And Ben said to Jack that Locke blames Jack for the bad things that happened...
But then again, we know how manipulative Ben can be...maybe somehow, someway he is behind it all...I can still never wholeheartedly believe the Ben is one of the "good guys". I think he would do anything to prove he is the keeper of the island. Maybe even along the lines of killing Sayid's wife, just to get the ball rolling.

I dont think Locke turned the wheel,
We know that others have left the island before and moving the island is a "last resort"
So I think he got off somewhere
the fact that he might be alive on the island is a possiblity, because of the time difference but I doubt it
Unless Locke can make two of himself, i think he's dead end of.
He must've been there to tell them they have to go back, and then told each person something else
Like he told jack that bad dark things have happened, maybe he told others something else
Locke in the coffin was such a shock it was UNBELIVEABLE
I think it was a good guess from the 1st scene of the episode that bentham wasn't actually his real name

I remember in older posts about "who is in the coffin?" And many people (I think joking) thought it was Locke. In addition, people stated that the coffin was very short (or small). Did Locke lose his legs, or something?

The thing is, maybe they arent skipping three years on the island? The island, moved through time, and im sure were not talking just a day or a couple weeks. I think it moved possibly a couple years ahead...maybe skipping 2005 completely.
Then in season 5 it all gets caught up...with the finale and flashes of the O6 matching up with those still on the island. So, maybe those on the island missed 2 years of real world time. Confusing i know, thats the trouble you get into when dealing with time travel.

even if the island and inhabitants were skipping time, the island will still be there since every future has a past... I think the island actually moved...
A co-worker and I were discussing it earlier, the island could really be Atlantis...
considering lost has been on for 4 years, but has only covered several months, it wouldn't be wise to skip off 3 years later, then say well it's only been 1 year on the island...
looks like we are just going to have to wait and see....

I was thinking that the island moved from 2004 to 2007 (the year ben was told he was in). The O6 got off in 2004/ or early 2005. So when we get to crazy bearded Jack it is at that point that the O6 have caught up to the islnad time wise. It aalso seems to be at this point that things are falling apart?
