maybe it all the dream of an escaped DHARMA polar bear.....   Little Smokie

now thats funny!

What kills me is the writers have won. IMO the show is way out there and there is no possible way they can have realistic reasons to answer all this stuff but I will watch next season to see if the writing quality has improved over last seasons. If it hasnt I will still probally watch the last season too because it is the last one. The writers win.

Do you mean you think the writing has gone downhill? There was a point where I was thinking "there is no way they are ever gonna find an explanation for all of this!" But after reading and listening to some stuff the writers have said they seem to have it all planned out somehow.

Why was the room with the magic wheel that moved the island so icy? do you think the last time they moved the island it was near the north pole or something, and that's how the polar bears got on the island, and why the people looking for the island at the end of season 2 were in an igloo or whatever...because that was the last known location of the island, and because they (witmore) was getting close they had to move it?

sorry this has probably all been explained before

thoughts?

I thought it was to do with the movement of the island...The temparature needs to be Very Low (My Physics/ Science Isnt at the same level as Daniel Faradays....However i will try to explain below)

Temperature is how “hot” or “cold” something is. Temperature as indicated by the weather station is the temperature of the air. The physical meaning of temperature is how much energy the air has, on average. If you think of air as comprised of particles, in this case the molecules of the air, that are moving randomly, a higher temperature would mean that the particles are bouncing off of each other much faster than a lower temperature objects.

This would mean the lower the temperature...the more safe it would be to move something within time/space, (as if it was HOT or normal Temperature, it would be more dangerous as molecules and particles...would be erratic and and not put back in its place ,whereever you end up ).....This could be a reason why Polar Bears were used...as the time travel theory can only be conducted in exteme cold conditions

JUST A THOUGHT....its my 1st Post....I await your responses to cripple my theory  dork! hehe

great post for a 1st post LLL, i'll help expand on it......basic principles of time travel consist of bending time and space on to itself.....now think of it the easy way...Space is cold, empty, almost negative.....I think the Orchid encases the part of the island that is sitting on negative electromagnetic matter....everything was frozen in the room because its all negatively charged energy...plus it is also underground and was enclosed, which we all know hot air rises, cold air sinks....

I would of loved to see what the room looked like after the energy was released, because i dont think it would be frozen over anymore.....Ben turning the wheel was allowing the negative energy to be released which can explain the bright(why do they call it purple sky when it really wasnt?) light that encompassed the island.  Oh and only something traveling faster than the speed of light could possibly time travel...which is what i think everyone in the chopper saw...a bright light and then the island is gone.

Yes if something travels faster than the speed of light than it CAN time travel, but would you really be able to see something traveling faster than light? a.k.a the purple light they saw? are you saying the purple light is going faster than regular light?

really what im saying is i dont understand where the purple light fits in to time traveling

do you think there was something special about the tunnel Ben went down to get to the room or was it just a regular tunnel?
