Okay, why is the magic wheel room all icy?

Why was the room with the magic wheel that moved the island so icy? do you think the last time they moved the island it was near the north pole or something, and that's how the polar bears got on the island, and why the people looking for the island at the end of season 2 were in an igloo or whatever...because that was the last known location of the island, and because they (witmore) was getting close they had to move it?
sorry this has probably all been explained before
thoughts?

actually i dont think many of us have any clue while its icy. what you just explained sounds reasonable, but i dont think me or anyone else has a theory that sounds better than the one you just had.
im sure if there are other LOST websites (and im sure there arent, lol) that might have theories on why its icy.

Seems plausible to me. I hadn't really thought about why it was icy but I guess you could be right.

WELL I DONT THINK ITS JUST SO SIMPLE...THE WHEEL(NOT THE ROOM)WAS SO ICY BECAUSE IT WASNT USED FOR A LONG TIME I THINK....
I BELIEVE THE LAST TIME THEY MOVE T WAS THE PURGE OF THE DHARMA GUYS.......AND THEN THE ISLAND WAS SUNNY AND TROPICAL AS IT IS TODAY....
THE POLAR BEARS WERE THERE FOR EXPIREMENTS.....

well things dont just become icy because you dont use them for a long time. i could leave my bed in the middle of nowhere for a long time and it wont freeze over!

oh yeah. lol. i get what you are saying now.
well anyways, i cant think of a reason why the room would be icy besides the one given in the first post of this thread. Unless it has something to do with the unique qualities of the Exotic matter. or the fact that it is several meters underground

will what u said abt north polar is verry possible and makes sence of the existence of the polar bears.. BUT the "moving the island" part is pissing me off cuz its turning the show to fiasco .. so unrealistic and LA LA .. if they were all drawned is way better than "moving the island"

The whole show is unrealistic to an extent but I know what you mean about the island moving. When I heard that I thought it was getting a bit OTT. However, I have 100% trust in the writers and know they can make it cool.

What kills me is the writers have won. IMO the show is way out there and there is no possible way they can have realistic reasons to answer all this stuff but I will watch next season to see if the writing quality has improved over last seasons. If it hasnt I will still probally watch the last season too because it is the last one. The writers win.
