im seeing a desmond theme running through those high rated episodes
hmm when it said in daniels notebook 'if anything goes wrong, desmond hume will be my constant' do you reckon something has already gone wrong and meeting desmond on the island fixed him. or something will happen sometime in the future, maybe when the island was moved while he was on the raft and he has to find some way to make contact with desmond? if its the first one then surely he will be ok as desmond stopped jumping as soon as he phoned penny

you know what...i think the only thing i dont like about the Penny/Des reunion is that it almost felt thrown into the finale. You had so much build up for their story it became, albiet a great surprise, it just felt thrown in. Now I am curious to know what will happen if/when Ben finds Penny...

I REALLY hope Desmond is in the next two seasons! OBVIOUSLY lol he is the best! im a guy and thats twice now that lost has almost made me cry!
1. when they talked on the phone
2. when they were finally reunited
Def my fav story line and i hope it does continue with Ben keeping his word and tyring to kill Penny and Desmond having to protect her and kill Ben!

I felt that way too. They could have spent a little more time on their reunion but it was sort of pushed to the side. Maybe in the next series there will be more emphasis on it.
I loved this storyline too. Half of me wants a happy ending for them, but then the selfish lost-loving side of me wants lots more drama to happen to them.

I guess the writers kind of did spread out their reunion though...I mean Season 2's finale dealt with Desmond turning the safety key, which led to the Swan implosion, which led to the "purple sky" which led to the artic? guys finding the surge again? with them calling Penny telling her they may have found the island, well signal's source.
Season 3's finale had Des and Charlie going to the underwater station, with Charlie getting the call from Penny...which she was finally able to track. Then with the Constant and Des calling her, she knew exactly where to look. So i guess the writers did spread it out enough....something just didnt feel right with how they did it in the finale.
Although, one you saw Des on the heli and survive the crash, you knew there had to been something that caused him not to be part of the O6 with Frank.
Anyway, I could see how it would become a huge problem if Des had to go back to the island too, but i dont see how he can not go back, since technically he is the cause of flight 815 crashing. And he is also Daniel's Constant.

Exactly. They had to keep Des in the story somehow, and he wasn't on the island and if he stayed on the freighter he'd be a goner, no other way out than the helicopter.
I quite liked that we finally saw them reunited rather than him just staying on any old rescue boat, still longing for Penny. It also brings the Widmore connection to the forefront and we might possibly see a Penny/Charles episode? I'd like that!

Personally i didnt think it was rushed or pushed to the side i was very happy with the way Des was reunited with Penny (although shes not the best looking gal in the world but then again neither is my true love! which is why true love rules none of that matters!)
But HELL YEAH to a Penny Vs Charles episode

om my gosh when desmond almost drowned i was freaking out. if he had ben dead i seriously would have gotten up and left the room. lol thats how mad i wouldv been.
i think that their reunion was great. i get the feeling we didnt see the best part....LOL
i dont think penny has to go back, cause shes never been there.
and i dont think daniel needs a constant right now. because he wrote "
if
anything goes wrong..". so more of a just in case, he can be mine thing

I agree. That scene just didn't get to me I guess. It's not that I don't love Desmond, in fact the Constant was one of the greatest episodes ever, but there was something missing from that scene and when they were kissing and re-uniting i just said "meh good for them" but I didn't really care.
Since Jack said to Frank "I hope I never see you again", I'm almost certain we will see Frank again, and Des and Penny will probably be on next season, not every episode but they will be on.

Oh me too! I was literally like "noooooooooo" when I thought he'd drowned... think that's why I enjoyed the reunion with Penny so much, I was still celebrating the fact he was alive
