I was just thinking of the importance of music in lost, like how we see hear Mama Cass on Michaels stereo before he tries to kill himself, the same artist Desmond is listening to in the hatch, and the big deal people are making of the Buddy Holly song which wasn't recorded at the time Locke was born

Well anyway, I noticed both times we see Jack visiting the funeral home where Locke is, he is listening to early 90's songs, first Nirvana, then Pixies I believe....anyone think this has any relevance?...or is Jack just showing us his depression by making 90's grunge mix tapes?

Maybe the writers are building to a 7th season flashback with Jack in his teens, with shoulder length greasy hair, and a plaid cardigan?

I think its a perfect choice to make him listening to Nirvana and Pixies. Its showing that he's really badass now with the shades and all. Nirvana kind of represents not caring about anything, which represents how Jack is feeling.

I read that Kurt Cobain died on April 5th (the same date of the newspaper in which Jack read of Locke's death). The Nirvana song playing in the truck outside the funeral was probably just an insider's shout-out to that. Grunge is pretty depressing too and matches the desperate mood Jack was in.

I know what you mean KA! Nothing is ever simple in LostLand!
