Are any of you guys Wes Anderson fans? He's my second favourite movie director (take a look at my email address and see if you can guess my first favourite!). The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my favourite movies and I just saw the Darjeeling Limited last night which was great. All the way through the movie I just kept saying to myself 'OMG I love Wes Anderson!' I bought Steve Zissou which I haven't seen yet so I might watch it tonight or tomorrow.

I can't stomach his films, for the most part. The Royal Tenenbaums was entertaining, as was The Life Aquatic, but I could never see what the big deal about Rushmore or Bottle Rocket was. They both seemed really contrived, and The Royal Tenenbaums was teetering on the edge itself.

I guess they're not for everyone. I don't think anyone is doing what he does right now in movies. He tells great stories with so much depth and emphasis on characters. It helps to be a fan of his regulars like Bill Murray, Angelica Housten, Owen Wilson. But above all, I think its his writing that does it. After I watch one of his movies I feel like I've just read a novel.
