i found out that hugh is actually british! he just talks with an american accent on the show. You could've never guessed he was british unless you found out from somewhere else. He is brilliant as that character

Love the show, love the character and love the actor. He is brilliant and he is funny in real life. I can't wait for that show to come back on.

I didn't realize either that he was a British actor at first. I went to a party a few weekends ago, and their happened to be a linguist there. We got to talking about the show House and she said that with Hugh Laurie being British, the shows director and writers write differently to compensate for his British accent. If you notice, they mostly give him quick, one liners with few words, and then have the actual American actors do the majority of the talking.
House is always the witty one!
I guess it all fits with my favorite quote from Shakespeare "Brevity is the soul of wit."

I have always noticed on the show that there is something different about his voice, but could never place it. I thought it sounded like he had a slight accent, but couldn't tell what it was. Than at some point awhile back I realized he was british, and I thought "aww, that explains it."
The show is back on and it is great like always. I think next week (3rd ep) looks especially good.

i watched it last night. It was so sad n that guy died and the dog was looking at him with those sad puppy dog eyes
