I have discovered the Big, secret plot behind the ABC hit program 'Lost' if you do not want the whole plot of the program to be revealed do not read on.
First lets start on why the characters we know as the 'losties' and why they are on this mysterious island. All these Losties are not on the island by chance they are on the island because they are being tested to enter a highly strong secret, underground world movement. This movement or society as we know it is called '3masons'.
The infamous, highly mysterious 3masons society is said to be based inside the earth we live on and the place where this secret base's entrance is near either the North or South pole. Many have tryed to find the entry but vanished. At the end of Season 2 if you remeber a boat seems to gain entry to the island in a snowy, icy district, this is a replica of the entrance to the 3masons society. As you probably know the 3masons are said to run the world be miles ahead with technology and run mysterious tests a little like DHARMA. You may also know that you can not choose to become a member of the 3masons you must BE SELECTED.  The mysterious JACOB is a selector and he has so far selected Ben and John from our knowledge, but Ben can not take any others to JACOB, just John because he knew John has been selected. All the amazing technology, the smoke monster it is all the 3mason's mastermind. Naiomis pals on the boat are trying to discover the three maisons leader, which would cause a great erruption in the world's media and that is why Ben is so keen to stop communication, JAcob has warned him and that is why John Locke also trys to stop communication, due to JAcob's word.
At the end of Season 3 we learn Jack really wants to get back to the island, reason why???
Because he knows of the 3masons power he wants to be selected, him, Kate and the other man Sawyer who was not revealed were not selected therfore let of the island. Remember JAck, KAte and sawyer were all captured by the others and JAcob decided they were not to be selected. The funeral is of Juliettes, who is not working for the others or the losties but the people who discoverthe 3masons.

all i can say the ending is one huge twist that results in one of the world's biggest's questions being reveled, so i will say these final worlds before my next post...

If you actually watch the show you would know Jack would never want to go back to the island for himself, to be ''selected'' or whatever rubbish your trying to feed people. He wants to go back to the island to save people, becasue thats the type of man he is.
