I am brand new to these boards so I wanted to say hello to everyone out there! I am from Texas and hope to meet lots of folks from all over. LOST is my absolute favorite show on tv. I am joining this community as a part of a sociology class that I'm taking. I am sure that I will remain long after the class is over. BTW, is the numberof members posted under stats correct or are there more??
Looking forward to some great forums!

Wow! You guys are a friendly group! I didn't expect to get so many welcomes. To clarify things. . . I am a BIG fan of Lost otherwise I would be lost in these forums. Also, no one needs be scared about me studying you all. I promise not to inflict any pain (and how do you know that there are not OTHERS studying us???). To answer some questions, the class I am taking is the "Sociology of Cyberspace" and it is a great class. I have to write a term paper about the online community that I joined. I am just getting started but my research will include jargon used, harmony versus discord, what kind of media is available (chat, DB's, etc.), core values, social control, geographical location of participants, etc., etc.
It is one of my last 2 classes to finish my degree (BGS) from Texas Woman's University. Yeah!
Sorry it took so long to reply. I'm still learning the ropes. . .

Great!! Can I start out with a few questions? One of them is can we reply to someone directly or can we only reply to the thread that is started? This part is a little new as in my classroom DBs we reply to someone directly, yet others can view it.
Also, can anyone give me a run down of what countries or states are represented in these boards? Anyone else out there from Texas???

Yes, you can directly contact any member, if you go on any members profile (by clicking on there name when they post) theres an option where you can send them a personal message, itll go straight to them it only they can read it
I know there is a list of members, and a stats page, but I dunno if i've seen any place where there is a list of where people are from

different members will post in different areas, but the averages are in the stats area

yes there is a place that you can private message a member as cd stated. also when you go into a thread if you want to reply directly to what 1 person said, you hit the quote button in the post. and that way when we are reading through we know who you are directly talking too.
we have member from all over the world here on the forum, i wcan tell you that it is made up mostly by the UK and the US. i am from colorado, i think that a few joined up yesterday that it from texas. i am not for sure though.
all of the boards do get posted in, but like cd said now that we are in off season the off topics are the most busy. its a fun way to make friends and get to know others.
