but the thing is .. if richard was " alive person" how come he is the same forever.. same look same age , when he went to john when john was gifted kid ( season 4 john flashback) and also when he spoke to JULIET and drugged her before the trip and when ben came to the island with his parents ... did u guys spoke abt that already? :S excuse me if u did but am just new

I'm not sure what is going on with Richard. He can't be alive but I don't think he is a ghost either. Maybe just a way that jacob or the island manifests itself in human form? The more I think of these things, the less sure I get of what I think about them!

yeah ben i think theres way more possibilities than those. it could be something like how locke was healed, richard doesnt get old. maybe its cause the island needs him so if he gets old and died that would be bad

maybe richard is always the one trying to find the chosen one? Its like he is the leader until they find the one Jacob believes in......so if there is no true leader, Richard is in charge until the "one" is found

i dont know i think we're still missing some peices as to how Ben gained leadership....but he did say that he wasnt always the leader...maybe using "the chosen one" wasnt the best term....maybe its more like a presidency lol....your there until someone better comes along....which getting back on topic...is what i think Richard does....he finds/helps(remember he helped Locke kill Cooper, by giving him Sawyer's file) the next better leader for Jacob's group

Yeah I think that could be the case. I wonder how Richard and the others will feel about Ben leaving the island. I guess we'll find out in S5. And maybe an explanation about Ben's relationship with Richard now he's gone.
I'm really looking forward to finding out Richard's story.

well we know Richard first met Ben when Ben was a child and he walked out towards the sonic barriers...which i think Ben was 12 at the time, and Richard looked the same as he always has except for longer hair.....
but we still dont know much about the purge, who initially planned it, and what happened afterwards...since this is the theory section i wanna say Widmore was leading the others at the time, he accepted Ben into the group, maybe after the purge, dharma tried to send reinforcements, and Widmore had to move the island to protect, maybe Ben even conned him into doing it....just a theory

Yeah but I'd like to go further back than that to find out how Richard got on the island to start with. Widmore has to be connected to the history of the island in some way but I don't know about him being on the island himself. When we see him as a professional looking businessman in his suit I can't imagine him slumming it in the jungle.

Ahhhh but we have seen Ben, Richard, and once Tom off the island completely different than them just slumming it in the jungle....i dont know Widmore saying he wants his island back, makes me assume he has been there before, and was a big part of it
