This is true CBF.. but coming from a psychology standpoint, for example, I don't think schizophrenic people chose to be schizophrenic through their free will. The mind is just way too complicated.

I do agree that some gays may have the ability to choose, but I do think that many don't have that choice - they just are.

I want to say all gays are born that way... but that's definitely not true.

I work with a man, who was happily married and has two children my age... but after his wife passed away some years ago he turned the other way and now lives with a man.

Whether he had it in him the whole time, who knows?

I even bet out of 100 straight women/men of the age of 21 (for emample)... that if they had a gay experience, that some of them, maybe 5% would actually turn gay based on the experience alone and they would have had no idea they had it in them all along. It could be you! or me!?!

right im not saying that its always a concious decision. maybe thats the way their brain is wired.  but that wouldve happened through who knows what.  i think that thats something that is too complicated for us to figure out right now.

Agreed. There are way too many variables in effect to determine a clear answer to why someone is gay.

Bianca has several gay friends - male and female.  I can easily pick the ones that are just doing it, cause it's the "cool" thing to do,  And then I can tell the kids that are going to be gay for life.  Hey, I have said it before and I'll say it again "If Angelina Jolie calls me up and wants to go out, I will certainly have no problem being bisexual." LOL  I guess maybe I am just more open to the idea. ( I am afterall 100 years old)  Since Bianca was born I always used the phrase "When she brings home her boyfriend or girlfriend..."

haha arcanix love that Angelina Jolie thing, in fact that sounds about right lol.  I have a couple of gay friends and they're not doing it cause it seems 'cool' its simply what they like and they're still the same friend to me as they were before they came out

I totally agree - it's what they like and want.  When I meet people, for example -  this forum,  I don't say "Hi,  I'm Barbara, and I like to have sex with men."  Really does it matter what people do in the bedroom?  I just want people to be happy and in love.  And if being happy and in love is with the same sex, then I am happy for them.  I guess maybe I think there are way too many other important issues in the world, then to pick on people who are in love with the same sex.  I don't judge people on stuff like that.  I judge them on whether or not they are nice or if they are a-holes.

Some gay people, that like act really camp and wear bright pink clothes and just act "camp" annoys me, it's pretty obvoius then they are doing it for attention

I have one friend who is Bi, and the way he acts you wouldn't even think he is bi, because he acts like everybody else and I really respect him for that. It's weird cause he takes offense when I call him straight =p
