i too am a strong Christian, but you cant force your beliefs on anyone. it just doesnt work that way

I am not religious either. Probably from working in a church. I just have such a problem with bad things happening to good people, it pisses me off that a higher being is letting it all happen. And yes, I know about free will, but come on, if you have the power to stop a baby in Africa from being raped because the guy thinks by doing it, he will free himself of aids, then you need to stop it. Maybe because I know even as chicken S*** as I am, I would risk injury to prevent a stranger from getting hurt. I think if there is a higher being, he/she/it should do the same. Generally, I think I am a good person. I think if there is a great place to go when people die, then people should be able to get into it, not because they love the creator, but because they did good in their life. Take the story of Job - if it's true, God said watch this: I'll take everything from this man, and he'll still love me..." What kind of game is that? I have always said this and I'll stick to it "I would give anyone the shirt off my back, just not my bra." (Cause I need my bra.) But in the same breath, I wish I had or could see what it is that religious people see. Then maybe I would understand. Okay, I will get off of my soapbox.

but how would you like it if you were controlled all the time? had no thoughts of your own actions. i dont think i would like that.

in regards to Job, what God was saying is basically, "this man loves me so much i could strike him down and that would change nothing. he will still love me the same".

if more people were like you arcanix, then fewer bad things would happen, in regards to the shirt off my back(except my bra Wink

)

Oh, Crystal what happened? I love to hear good stories. Maybe you posted it somewhere else so I will go look.

CBF - I wouldn't want to be controlled. But if I saw someone doing something bad, like cutting someone up, and I had the ability to stop it or to at least try and stop it I would. So in a sense I would be controlling the situation. I just couldn't live with the guilt of not helping out. CBF, I think you are a sweetie pie. Because reading back over my post I come off as sounding harsh, and you just calmly explained the story of Job. That's what I mean when I say "I wish I could see what you see when you think of a creator." You just gently explain your point, and I appreciate that. So thanks!

I just hate it when evil things happen to the innocent. I don't mind bad things happening to bad people. Little Devil

We did about this in R.E recently
and talked about the parable of the weeds ? (tell me if i'm talking rubbish =p)

but it was all about if God took away all evil, then almost everyone would be taken away, as everyone has evil in them
so thats why God doesnt stop suffering

I tottally agree though, i always wanna help if something terrible is happening
as a kickboxing, I gained so much respect and disipline that i always try and help people whatever happens
especially when my friends are in a situation (like having a argument) I always need to help

Bianca was taught so much discipline and respect in karate. Those type of classes are just so wonderful, in teaching how to act in the real world. Bianca breaks up every fight she sees. I am so afraid that one day she will get stabbed by breaking up a fight.

Only if she is forced to. She is not allowed to start a fight (I don't think she would - she is a tree hugger, all for peace) She is only allowed to hit back if she has no other option.

i try to be

im planning on taking some type of karate classes next fall. i can have a big mouth(i can normally contain myself) and have friends who have big mouths(and who are pretty). so i would feel alot better that if it came down to i t, i could protect them. Its called Aikido

yeah and starting fights is bad! lol

i dont tend to start fights as such but im very defensive of my friends, if someone starts on them i cant help myself from trying to defend them, its mostly just words though-im a small person with a big mouth haha

Well, when I say she can't start fights, I mean physically. I expect her to defend anyone with her mouth, just not her hands. I think people should be able to get things straightened out with out hitting someone. Or when no one's looking, go key their car. h he Don't get me wrong there are several people that if I was given the chance to be alone with, I would beat the crap out of. I just want Bianca to be better than that. I have only been in one real fight, and after the fight I started crying cause I felt bad that I hurt the girl. This girl had wanted to beat the crap out of my friend for weeks. So one day we showed up and she had a knife (gotta remember I am a lover not a fighter) so she threw the knife and she said the first person to get it, uses it. I was like WTF? So she was running for the knife, and the only thing I could think to do was knock her down and to keep banging her head into the asphalt, until my friend got the knife. It only lasted like 10 seconds but it seemed like forever. Then I felt bad, but this girl deserved it. She came to visit her grandma in the summer and was trying to start trouble in our neighborhood. Oh, and I smacked this guy for stealing Bianca's bike. But other than that, I am nice.
